Vent: Found the wrong board behind a bathroom sink

I was doing a bathroom fix up and pulled off the old vanity. Behind it, someone had used plain drywall, not the green kind for wet spots. I knew it would get soft and moldy, but telling the owner meant more money and time. I decided to swap it out right then and just ate the cost. Now I make a point to look for stuff like that before I put new pieces up, saves trouble later.

Man, @thomas584 is spot on about the particle board nightmare. Seen that cheap shortcut so many times. It's the same logic as using the wrong gasket on a car engine, it holds for a bit but then you get a massive leak. Totally ruins the surrounding area. People try to save fifty bucks now and it costs a thousand later. Good on you for fixing it right then.

Yeah catching that stuff early is key. My buddy's contractor found particle board under a tub once, total nightmare later.

I used to think that was overkill, but you're right.
