3 years ago I swore by metal corner bead until a job in Portland changed my mind
I used to fight with paper faced bead on every job, thought it was way too finicky. Then last month I had to do a curved archway in an old Victorian and the metal stuff just wouldn't cooperate. Has anyone else switched over to paper bead for tricky spots?

Funny how one job can flip your whole thinking on something. I was the same way with paper faced bead, swore it was more trouble than it was worth until I tackled a tricky radius in a church renovation last spring. The metal bead just fought me the whole way, kinked and buckled no matter how careful I was. Paper bead bent around that curve like it was made for it and the finish came out smooth with hardly any extra work. I still use metal for straight runs but for anything with a bend it is paper all the way now.

Paper bead is all I use now on anything curved. Did a barrel ceiling last year and metal would have been a nightmare. It just bends nicer and the mud blends in cleaner. Never going back for archways or curves.
