I was skeptical about using vinegar to clean my bilge but it actually worked

My bilge smelled like a dead fish for weeks after a fuel spill in Charleston last June. A friend at the marina told me to dump a gallon of white vinegar down there and let it sit for 24 hours. I thought he was nuts but I tried it anyway and the smell was gone the next day. Has anyone else had luck with weird household products for boat cleaning?

Bleach works better and costs half the price at Walmart.
