Told my boss in Galveston that using a 3D sonar map for a silt survey was a waste of time, but after it found a buried pipeline we missed, I had to admit it was worth the extra day.

Has anyone else had a piece of tech they doubted completely change how you prep a dredge site?

We fought against getting a drone for site photos for ages. Now the guys won't even start a coffee break without checking the overhead shots first.

Fought my crew tooth and nail about switching to that new GPS tracking software for the cutter head. Called it a toy for a whole month. Then we hit that rock shelf outside of Mobile and the real-time depth feed saved our blades. I still hear about it, but now I'm the one making sure the tablet is charged every morning.
