Floating debris pile near the Twin Falls intake had me second-guessing my sweep pattern

I was running a job out by the Twin Falls irrigation canal last Tuesday and hit a patch of submerged logs and silt that just kept coming back no matter how many passes I made. My swing angle was 12 degrees and I was running at 1400 rpm, but the material was packing along the port side of the ladder. Took me about 45 minutes to realize the current was pushing everything into a narrow band about 30 feet wide, so I had to shift my anchor line and cut a shorter arc. Any of you deal with that kind of river flow messing with your cut depth? I usually run rivers in the fall, but this summer flow is a whole different animal. Wondering if I should drop to a 10 degree swing or just slow the pump speed next time.

What about checking if the logs are snagged on something underneath, that might be holding them in place.
