Three weeks after adding springtails, my moss finally stopped dying
My closed jar had that gray fuzz eating away at the sphagnum for a month, then I threw in a culture from a local shop and it cleared up by the third week. Has anyone else seen a total flip like that just from adding cleanup crew, or was my substrate just too wet to begin with?

Whoa, hold on, I have to disagree here. Springtails are great and all, but they eat mold and dead stuff, they don't fix the real problem, which is your sub too wet. That gray fuzz showed up because the jar was staying soaked, and once you added bugs they just cleaned up the mess for a while. If you don't dry things out a bit, that fuzz comes right back once the crew can't keep up. My first jar did the same thing, looked fixed for a month, then crashed hard because I never changed my misting.
