Why does nobody talk about pet costumes at Renaissance fairs?

I took my corgi to the Renaissance fair in Sterling last weekend and saw like 6 dogs dressed as tiny knights, but not one cat. I tried putting a felt lion mane on my cat for the same vibe and she pancaked on the floor for 2 hours. Has anyone else tried fair-style costumes on a cat and gotten pure refusal?

My corgi does the same thing with anything on his head, just flops over like a drama queen. Honestly the cats are probably the smart ones here, the whole thing is just for our amusement anyway.
