Hot glue broke my dog's costume 10 minutes before the parade

I spent 3 hours making a hot dog costume for my beagle Milo using foam and felt. Right as I put it on him for the neighborhood pet parade in Austin, the bun started peeling off because hot glue just doesn't stick to fur. Learned the hard way you need to sew a harness inside or use fabric adhesive instead. Anyone got a trick for keeping stuff attached without sewing?

Wait, you used hot glue directly on his fur? Oh man, I would've thought that'd work too honestly. Did Milo just walk away and the bun just... flopped off?

Oh man, that's exactly what happened. The bun held for like ten minutes, then Milo shook his head and it sailed right off. Thing is, the glue cooled fast, so it never really stuck to his fur, just sat on top. I should've known better. Now I use those little claw clips and it stays put all day.
