That time a customer's dead Xbox taught me patience

A guy in Pittsburgh brought in a 360 that wouldn't power on, and after I fixed the power supply for $15, he shook my hand and said 'you saved my whole save file,' which still sticks with me because it reminded me why I bother with this stuff, has anyone else had a fix that meant way more to the owner than the money?

Honestly, that story hits different. Ngl, I once spent two hours fixing a friend's ancient PS3 just because his kid had a Minecraft world they'd been building for a year. He paid me in pizza, and I still think I got the better deal. Tbh, most of my "repairs" are just me swapping out a cheap part and praying I don't screw it up worse, so when someone actually thanks me like that, I feel like a fraud. But yeah, those moments are why I keep a soldering iron around, even if my own Xbox has been dead in a closet for three years.

Is it really that deep though, @oscar_hunt61? I mean, yeah the guy was happy, but a save file is just data, and people act like it's their whole life story sometimes. Like, I get fixing stuff is cool, but some of y'all treat a broken console like it's a lost family heirloom.
