My brother's comment about my packed work bag got under my skin
He was visiting and grabbed my backpack to borrow a charger, then laughed and said 'you carry a whole survival kit for a desk job.' It hit different because he's a contractor who carries actual tools to job sites every day. Made me realize I have six pens, three charging cables, a backup battery, and two different notepads for a job where I sit at a computer. Anybody else get called out by someone for carrying too much stuff you barely use?

Why are you letting him get to you though? He's a contractor and you're not, you don't need to carry the same stuff. Those six pens and extra cables might actually save you one day when your coworker needs a charger or the office runs out of pens. Honestly sounds like you're just prepared, not overpacking.
