Remember when a strong password was just your pet's name and a number?
Back in 2010, my university email got hacked because my password was 'sparky123'. Now, my password manager generates a 16-character string for everything. The shift really started after the big Yahoo breach in 2013 showed how weak passwords get reused. What's the longest password you've had to remember for work?

Oh man, that Yahoo breach was a real wake-up call for me too. I once had a work password that was like 20 characters and changed every month, it was a nightmare. Thank goodness for password managers now.

Read somewhere that forced password changes can actually make security worse. People just add a number or change a letter, so hackers can guess the pattern. Makes you wonder about those old work rules.

Forces lazy people to at least try something new though.
