A hacker scared me straight last Tuesday after I clicked a fake FedEx link
I was just trying to track a package with my new shoes and typed "FedEx tracking" into Google. First result looked legit so I clicked it and put in my order number and zip code. It asked me to download a PDF to see delivery details so I hit download. Then my antivirus went crazy and popped up a warning about malware. I called my IT guy at work and he said I almost handed my login credentials to a phishing site. He showed me the URL was actually fedex-delivery-help dot com with a typo. Now I double check every link before clicking even if it looks real. Has anyone else had a close call with a fake shipping update scam

Does your IT guy have any tips for spotting those fake URLs? My buddy Mark almost got hit last week with a phishing email that looked like it was from Amazon Prime. He was about to click "verify your payment" until he noticed the sender was "amaz0n-support" with a zero instead of an O. It woulda been real bad too since he buys stuff from there like every week.

Funny you mention that, because this exact thing happened to my neighbor last month with a fake UPS link. Your story fits a bigger pattern I've noticed, where scammers are getting better at mimicking everyday stuff we all do without thinking. It used to be obvious spam, but now they copy real designs so perfectly that even cautious people get fooled. Your IT guy's advice is gold, because the whole trick relies on us moving fast and not looking closely at URLs. This is exactly why I tell everyone to slow down on any link that asks for personal info, no matter how urgent it feels. The scammers prey on that split second of trust, and your close call is a perfect example of how easy it is to fall for it.
