Pulled my credit report on a Saturday morning and saw a collection account I knew nothing about
I was sitting at my kitchen table in Spokane with a cup of coffee back in March, and I pulled all three reports just to see where things stood. There it was, a $347 collection from a medical office I had never heard of, and my score had dropped 62 points without a single call or letter. I called the collection agency first, and they could not tell me the original creditor, so I filed a dispute online and also mailed a certified letter to the bureau. It came off in 31 days, and my score went back up to 704, but it made me realize I need to check those reports more than once a year. Has anyone had luck getting a collection removed when the agency will not give you the original account details?
