Why does nobody talk about how loud some natural fibers actually are?

I was at a historical reenactment event last weekend and someone was wearing this handmade wool cloak. I asked them about the material and they said it was undyed, untreated wool from a local farm. I was honestly surprised to find out that when you move in it, the sound is basically like wearing a crunchy bag. Felt like the movies always make medieval clothes look silent. Has anyone else run into weird sensory surprises with historically accurate fabrics?

Oh man, the crunchy bag comparison is dead on. Got a linen shirt for a Viking thing last summer and it sounds like I'm walking around with a bag of chips every time I turn my head. The stiffness was unreal too, felt like cardboard with sleeves. Always figured historical clothes would be all soft and flowy like in movies, but nope, they're basically wearable noise makers.
