Vent: my critique partner said my villain should brush his teeth more, I thought it was a joke

Back in March, this guy on a writing forum told me my antagonist's dialogue was too clean, and after I spent 2 days rewriting his monologue, I realized he meant the character literally had no bad breath quirk, so now I've added a scene where he flosses with a fishing line and the tension somehow got way better, has anyone else had a dumb note that actually unlocked something weird in their story?

Seventy-two hours I spent on a villain's backstory because a beta reader said he "looked too well rested," so I hear you. That silly note turned into a whole subplot about him never sleeping, and now he's the scariest character in the book.
