Picked the cozy mystery prompt over the hard sci-fi one and it bombed hard

Last week I had a solid sci-fi prompt about a colony ship that loses its gravity mid-journey, but I chose a cozy mystery about a librarian who finds a body in the return slot. Thought it would be easier to write, but I stalled after 400 words and the plot just fell apart. Meanwhile the sci-fi idea is still bouncing around my head, so now I'm stuck rewriting both and making zero progress. Has anyone else picked the 'safer' prompt and then regretted it for like a week straight?

Read somewhere that writers tend to overthink the "safe" choice because there's less room to get lost in the fun parts. That sci-fi colony ship thing sounds like it had a built-in engine, the mystery just needed a body to do all the work and it didn't show up.
