Straight row vs scatter method, my radishes were a mess either way

I planted two beds back in March, one with neat little rows and one where I just tossed the seeds around like confetti. The scattered ones came up way better, honestly, they seemed to find their own space and the crooked ones tasted just as good. But the straight rows, they got all crowded at the ends and half of them bolted, so I pulled maybe 6 decent radishes from 30 seeds. Has anyone else ditched the measuring tape and just gone full chaos mode with their carrots or beets?

Rows might have bolted from the heat, not the spacing.
