My crooked carrots made the best soup I've ever had

I almost composted this whole row of carrots because they looked like twisted little alien fingers after that rocky patch in my backyard. My neighbor laughed at them when I was pulling weeds, said they'd be woody and gross. Decided to roast them with some honey and thyme from my herb box instead of tossing them, and holy cow they were sweet and tender. Anyone else had ugly veggies that beat the perfect store ones by a mile? The misshapen ones seem to put all their energy into flavor.
