Recorded 47 minutes of a basement show in Cleveland on my phone and learned the hard way why you never stand by the vent
Honestly I almost gave up on phone taping after that night. The band was called Rattlesnake Sunday and they played a tiny spot on West 25th, maybe 60 people packed in there. I had my phone in my shirt pocket the whole set, and when I played it back the next morning the AC vent right above me had turned the whole thing into this low hum that ate the bass. Now I always scope the room for vents and speakers before I hit record, and that one spot check saved my recording at a show in Akron three weeks later. Has anyone figured out a decent way to cut that hum out after the fact, or is it just a lost cause?
