Found out my BIOS update fixed a weird USB drop issue overnight
I had this old Dell OptiPlex 3020 in a small office near Austin that kept dropping USB connections randomly. Tried new cables, different ports, even swapped the mouse and keyboard. Finally I checked Dell's site and a BIOS update from 2018 somehow fixed it after 3 hours of frustration. Anyone else run into ghost problems that a simple update solved?

@the_nina my buddy's HP workstation did the same thing, bios update fixed his random USB drops too after he bought like 3 new keyboards.

Same thing happened with my old Lenovo T430. Random USB ports would just stop responding mid-session, usually when I was in the middle of something important. Drove me nuts for weeks until I stumbled on a BIOS update that specifically mentioned "improved USB stability" in the release notes. Your Dell story hits close to home because I wasted money on a powered USB hub that didn't fix anything. What made you finally think to check the BIOS instead of just replacing more hardware?
