Am I the only one who freaked out when my ticket count hit 5,000?
I was going through my old ticket system backup files yesterday and the counter hit 5,000 closed tickets. That number stopped me cold. I started doing this work out of my garage in 2016, mostly virus cleanups and RAM swaps for people in my neighborhood. Back then I figured I would fix maybe a hundred machines total and move on to something else. But 5,000 tickets is a lot of dead hard drives, cracked laptop hinges, and customers who never backed anything up. What got me was realizing I could probably name the worst 20 of those jobs off the top of my head, like the guy who spilled a whole latte into a MacBook and tried to turn it on anyway. It made me wonder how many other techs track their total job count and what number actually meant something to them. Do you keep a running tally or did you stop counting a long time ago?
