My local shop had a 'no price tags' sale and it was a total nightmare

They decided to run this event where you had to ask for the price of every single back issue. I spent 45 minutes trying to find a decent copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300, only to be told it was $400 when I finally asked. The guy behind the counter got visibly annoyed after my seventh price check. Has anyone else's shop tried something this annoying?

Just walk out next time, I mean that's a waste of your day.

Nah walking out doesn't fix the problem for the next person. The store set up a dumb system and then got mad when people used it. That owner needed to have set rules, like a minimum price or something, before he opened the doors. Getting into a shouting match over prices you made up on the spot is just bad business.

Yeah that reminds me of a record store that tried a "name your price" day. Total chaos. People were offering like five bucks for mint first pressings, the owner got so mad he just started yelling random numbers back. I saw a guy almost get into a fight over a Bowie album because he thought the price was a suggestion.

Did they at least have a list of the pricier books upfront?
