My pour over carafe cracked mid-brew at 6am yesterday
I was making my usual morning batch in my little apartment in Portland, and the glass carafe just split right down the side while the water was still dripping. Coffee went everywhere, all over the counter and my favorite mug collection. I stood there for a solid minute just staring at the mess before grabbing a towel. Turns out the thermal shock from rinsing it with cold water right before hot brew was the killer, I've done that same move for 2 years without issue. Now I'm stuck using a French press I bought 3 years ago and honestly it's not bad, just slower. Has anyone else had a carafe fail like this or is it just my luck?

That cold rinse before hot brew thing got my friend Jess too, except hers cracked mid-pour and sent a shard into her sink. She said the exact same thing, stood there in shock for a beat before she even moved. She's been on a cheap moka pot ever since and swears it's actually better now.
