Wasted $200 on a coding bootcamp that just pointed me to free YouTube videos
Last year I dropped $200 on a beginner coding bootcamp that promised to teach me Python in 4 weeks, and it turned out to be mostly slides pointing to free YouTube tutorials I could have watched on my own. The instructor spent maybe 20 minutes a session actually helping anyone, and when I asked about loops I got told to "google it" three times in one class. I stuck with it for 2 weeks before quitting, which was about $100 down the drain, and honestly that one hurt on a postal budget. I switched to free stuff like Automate the Boring Stuff and CS50, and I felt like I learned more in 10 days than in that whole class. If you're just starting out, try the free resources first before you pay anybody, seriously. Did anyone else get burned by a paid beginner course, or am I just bad at picking them?
