A guy in my Python class said 'just ignore the red text, it's not important' and I still think about it
I was in a beginner Python study group at my local library last Tuesday and this one guy kept getting errors in his terminal. Instead of reading them, he just closed the window and ran the script again hoping it would work. After the third try he turned to me and said 'just ignore the red text, it's not important.' I laughed at first but then I realized I did the same thing for my first two weeks of learning. The error message literally tells you the line number and what went wrong. I started actually reading them and fixed a missing parenthesis in like 10 seconds instead of 20 minutes of guessing. Has anyone else caught themselves basically playing whack-a-mole with code instead of just reading the error?
