Right angle heads vs. angled spindle, pick your battle

Ran into a tight spot last month on a job out in Phoenix where I had to machine a pocket on the inside of a 14 inch deep bore. My first thought was to flip the part and use a right angle head on the mill, but the tool stickout was getting sketchy and I was worried about chatter. Instead, I switched to a 45 degree angled spindle attachment we have on the other machine, and it ate through the material way cleaner. The setup took an extra hour because I had to re-check all my offsets twice, but the finish came out so smooth I didn't even need to hand polish. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has had better luck with one over the other for deep internal cuts, or if it's always just about what machine is free at the time. What do you guys run when the bore gets deeper than your arm can reach?
