Had to stop my uncle from using the chimney before the mortar dried. Family can be a hazard on site.

Ever think about insurance if your uncle had started a fire with that wet mortar? You'd be stuck paying for everything yourself. Family never wants to cover the costs when they mess up. Your insurance could deny the claim, saying you should have supervised better. Now you're not just babysitting, you're protecting your own money from their good intentions.

Oh man, that is the absolute truth. I was just reading about how on DIY shows they never show the real stress of having non pros, especially family, hanging around a project. They always want to help but skip the listening part, like your uncle with that wet mortar. It turns a simple job into full time babysitting, having to explain why waiting matters. Makes you want to put up a big sign that says "Do Not Touch" in three languages.
