Bought a $400 meat grinder and it paid for itself in 3 months
I got tired of paying $8 a pound for ground beef at the store. So I grabbed a Lem grinder off Amazon and started grinding my own chuck roasts at $3.50 a pound. After 3 months I calculated the savings and it was over $150. Has anyone else done the math on breaking down whole cuts yourself?

Bought a cheap hand-crank grinder years ago at a garage sale for $15, and it got me started down this path. I found that grinding my own pork shoulder for sausage saved me enough in a single summer to justify every penny I spent on better equipment later. Now I buy whole primal cuts and break them down myself, and the grinder is just one part of a bigger system that keeps my freezer full.

Hell yeah, that's exactly what I found with mine! Picked up a used grinder for $200 and the savings on bulk chuck rolls alone covered it in like 2 months. Now I never buy pre-ground, the texture is way better too.
