Vent: the gas station near my place charges $2 extra for their knockoff Cocoa Puffs and the milk is somehow better
I stopped at the Shell station on Highway 9 in Fredericksburg last Friday around 10pm because I wanted a snack and grabbed a bag of their store brand cocoa cereal for $1.99 instead of the real stuff at nearly $4. I finished the bowl, and the leftover milk tasted like straight chocolate syrup with none of that weird waxy aftertaste the name brand leaves behind. I have done this 5 times now with the same result every single time, and I even tried it side by side with the real box last weekend to be sure I was not fooling myself. My roommate thinks I am nuts and swears the brand name milk is richer, but I think he is just loyal to the label on the box. The store brand also gets less soggy, so the milk stays cleaner tasting instead of turning into brown mush water. Has anyone else found a cheap knockoff that beats the expensive cereal in the milk department, or am I the only one buying cereal at a gas station at midnight?
