Rant: I swore off glue-down for basements until a job in Renton changed my mind
For about 8 years I told every customer the same thing, no glue-down in a basement, it will lift with the moisture. Last spring I did a 600 square foot walkout in Renton and the homeowner had already bought the glue, so I said fine, but we put down a moisture barrier first and used a pressure roller on the whole thing. Came back 7 weeks later for a hallway job and not one edge had popped, even by the sliding door. Turns out the failures I saw early on were from guys skipping the roller and going too thin on the adhesive. Anybody here still doing glue-down below grade, and what are you doing different from my old way?
