I finally got level under a door by shaving the tackstrip
Had a job outside Phoenix last Tuesday where the old slab dipped a full half inch right at the bedroom entry. Ramshackle house, no subfloor to work with, and the door clearance left maybe a quarter inch for padding and carpet. I pulled the tackstrip and shaved the concrete with a grinder, just enough to seat the strip flush, then glued it back down with construction adhesive. Layed the carpet and the transition sat perfect, no hump at the threshold. Anyone else run into door height headaches and fix it at the strip instead of padding?
