My new nail gun keeps double firing on 2 inch brads, is this a regulator thing?

Picked up a refurbished coil nailer last Tuesday from a guy in Tacoma and it worked smooth on scrap plywood. But today on an actual baseboard job it double fired about 6 times out of 80 nails. Pushed two nails into the same spot, ruined one piece of trim. I'm running it at 90 psi off my pancake compressor with a standard hose. Could it be the regulator creeping up or maybe the trigger assembly is worn from the rebuild? Anyone else run into this with older nailers? I'd rather fix it than toss another $120 at a new one.

Wait, you got a refurbished coil nailer for under $120? That's a steal, I've seen those go for double that even beat up. But yeah, double firing on trim is brutal, I'd be pissed if I ruined a piece of baseboard over that. The regulator creeping is a real thing, I had a buddy's rig do the same thing at 95 psi and it turned out the diaphragm was shot. I'd check the trigger assembly first though, those rebuilds sometimes leave the old sear in there and it sticks.
