My delivery route showed me where all the good wood gets tossed

I pass by heaps of broken pallets every day and never gave them a second look. It dawned on me that this is basically free material for small builds if we bother to salvage it. How do you tell if a pallet is safe to take apart and work with?

What if the waste starts with the suppliers?

I mean, it's not really the same wood though, right? A lot of that tossed stuff is cut-offs or has defects we can't see from the truck. The Beth has a point about where the waste starts, because the supplier already sorted it. They're charging for the good boards they pulled out, not the pile they're tossing.
