Volunteer role turned into a full time offer, but the pay is rough
I started volunteering at a small nonprofit in Portland last March just to get some experience. By November they offered me a coordinator job, which was great, but they're only paying $38k with no benefits. I have a mortgage and a kid, so that feels like a step back from my old restaurant manager pay. Has anyone else taken a lower paying job just to get the title, and did it actually help you move up later?

$38k with a mortgage and a kid? Guess you'll be living on ramen and pure optimism for a while. At least the title fits on a resume, just dont frame it too nicely.
