TIL the job fair at the Dayton mall had 12 booths and 9 of them were the same insurance company
Went with my nephew last Thursday because he just got laid off from a warehouse job. Walked the whole floor twice. Nine booths, all selling life insurance, all promising the same "be your own boss" pitch and a $500 startup fee. One lady at a staffing booth told us she sees the same insurance recruiters at every fair in a 50 mile radius. Makes me wonder if job fairs are even worth the gas anymore. Anyone had luck at a fair like that or is it all commission gigs now?
Nine booths of the same insurance pitch sounds like a rough day, but is it really a scam or just how those fairs go now? Most real hiring happens online anyway, so the fair is mostly a place for the commission crowd to hunt. Feel bad for your nephew though, that's a long drive for nothing.
