Your winch is not a tow truck, and the mud hole on the Beaver Creek trail proved it to me
Last weekend up past Parry Sound I watched a guy bury his quad to the racks in that long bog on the Beaver Creek trail and then cook his winch line trying to drag himself out sideways. Here is the thing people keep getting wrong: a winch pulls, it does not lift, and if you point it downhill into deeper muck you are just spooling yourself in tighter. He had a 3500 lb winch on a 700 lb quad and still lost because he never got off the seat to look for a real anchor, and by the time the line snapped he was 40 minutes from the truck with no tree strap. I keep a 30 foot strap and a snatch block in my box and I have used them more to help other riders than myself. Get out, walk the line, pick a tree uphill, and pull in short controlled bumps instead of standing on the throttle. Anyone else run into that same guy who thinks more power solves every stuck, or is it just my luck?
