Warning: my $12 inflatable sleeping pad exploded at 2am in the rain last month
I was camping at Dead Horse Point State Park when the seam split wide open, and I spent the rest of the night shivering on a tarp with my backpack as a pillow - has anyone else had a cheap pad fail on them like that?

Did you buy it from one of those Amazon brands that sounds like someone sneezing? I had the exact same thing happen with a pad I got for $15, seam gave out on the third night at Big Bend. Now I just bring my thermarest even if it's heavier.

...and @bettymurphy you're probably right about the sneeze brands. My pad was something like "ZzzleepyBear" or whatever crap they're calling themselves these days. It lasted exactly one trip before it turned into a puddle of air at 3am in the rain. I looked like a drowned raccoon trying to patch it with duct tape in the dark... which did nothing, by the way. Now I'm the guy who brings a $30 walmart foam pad and calls it luxury. Never again with those blowup mattresses man.
