Got a busted viewfinder working on a coast trip last week
I was down at the Oregon coast and this old SLR I brought along had a foggy viewfinder. Took it apart in my hotel room with some lens cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Seeing clear through it again right before sunset was a real high point. Makes you appreciate having the skills to fix things on the go, you know?

What kind of lens cleaner did you have with you? I'm always curious what people throw in their bag for trips, because that foggy viewfinder problem seems to come out of nowhere. Was it just basic stuff from a camera store, or did you have to get creative with what the hotel had? Getting that fix done before sunset sounds perfect.

Actually, carrying special cleaner is overkill! Hotel glass cleaner works fine in a pinch, and real photographers just use their shirt. That sunset shot would've happened anyway.

My Zeiss wipes live in the side pocket.
