Tried a flat ramp and a folded tray bridge for my egg drop project, one of them actually worked
So for the 8th grade egg drop at Jefferson Middle, my group built two setups out of lunch trays. First we tried a flat ramp made from 3 trays taped end to end, and the egg just slid off the edge at the bottom every time. Then we folded the trays into a bridge shape with the sides turned up like gutters, and the egg rolled straight into the target box on the first drop. The folded sides made all the difference because they kept the egg from wobbling off track. Anyone else mess around with folded edges, or is flat ramp the way most people go?
Did you try taping the tray edges at all or just leave them flat? We did something like yours back in middle school but with cereal boxes cut in half. The flat one dumped the egg almost every time, same as your ramp. What finally worked was bending up the sides maybe an inch and a half so it was more like a little slide with walls. Egg still bounced a bit at the bottom but it stayed in the box. Folded edges just make way more sense for keeping it pointed the right way.
