It took me 9 hours over 3 weekends to fix the cable mess behind my TV because I kept buying the wrong size raceway
I finally snapped and decided to clean up the rat's nest behind my wall mounted TV in my apartment in Denver. I measured the gap between the drywall and the baseboard 4 separate times and still managed to buy a raceway kit that was 0.3 inches too wide. That meant I had to return it to the big box store in Aurora, wait in line for 25 minutes, and order a slimmer one online which took 5 days to arrive. In the meantime my toddler discovered the loose HDMI cable and yanked my soundbar off the shelf, cracking the corner of my coffee table. The second attempt failed because the adhesive strips were garbage and the whole channel peeled off the wall within 48 hours. I ended up drilling pilot holes and using drywall anchors, which took another 3 hours because I kept hitting a stud in the worst possible spot. If I had just spent the extra $22 on the metal channel with screw mounts from the start I would have saved myself 9 hours and a broken coffee table. Does anyone have a trick for measuring those weird curved gaps behind curved TVs, or am I the only one who turns a simple cable job into a whole renovation project?
Reminds me of the time I spent a whole Saturday installing a shelf that was supposed to take 20 minutes, then realized I put the brackets on upside down and had to patch the holes. My wife still brings it up at dinner parties. Curved gaps are a nightmare though, I'd just trace it on cardboard and cut that out as a template.
