Warning: "just make it work" comments are getting under my skin
Last week a GC walked through my shop in Portland and watched me hand-fit a dovetail drawer for 20 minutes. He said "can't you just pocket screw it, nobody will see the difference" and I swear I bit my tongue so hard. It's not about what people see, it's about the joint holding up after 10 years of use, not just looking okay at the walkthrough. I get that production shops do things faster, but I took a $350 loss on that job to do it right. Has anyone else had to explain to a client or GC that speed isn't the only metric that matters?

Ugh, tell me about it, had a homeowner watch me hand-cut a mortise and ask why I didn't just use a nail gun.
