Shoutout to the old timer who showed me a better way to square up a cabinet box
I spent like 2 years fighting with clamps and squares on every build. Last week a retired cabinetmaker watched me struggle and said "try pulling the back panel tight first." Honest to god it squared up perfect on my first try with zero adjustment. Anyone else pick up a simple trick way later than they should have?

The guy who taught me to sharpen chisels on sandpaper instead of a stone changed my whole world, way cheaper too. Still can't believe I spent years trying to read tiny graduation marks on a tape measure before someone told me to just memorize the 16th marks.

Watched my buddy spend three years cutting dowels by eye for every joint. Got tired of one being a sixteenth too long and splitting his workpiece. Finally another guy at the shop showed him to cut them a hair long and test fit, then trim with a chisel instead of measuring. Saved him hours and a lot of splinters.
