Why does nobody warn you that one power outage can wipe a whole nano tank
Two weeks ago the power in my building in Portland went out for 9 hours while I was at work and I came home to a 3 gallon shrimp bowl that was 68 degrees and full of dead neocaridinas. I had 14 shrimp in there, now I have 3. The filter media dried out too so I basically started my cycle over from scratch. I always thought a sponge filter and some hornwort made a bowl bulletproof and I was wrong. Now I'm looking at battery backup air pumps and I don't know if I should get the cheap USB one or spend more on something that actually runs overnight. Does anyone here keep a nano tank going through long outages, and what actually works?
