Finally ditched my fancy Leuchtturm for a $5 composition notebook and it's been a game changer
I spent two years using those expensive dotted notebooks for my bullet journal. At $20 a pop it adds up fast, especially when I go through one every 3 months. A buddy on a jobsite handed me a standard composition book from Walgreens to jot down some measurements, and I realized the paper handles my fountain pen just fine. Ghosting is there but honestly not worse than the Leuchtturm. For my daily logs and rapid logging it works perfect, and I don't stress about making mistakes on expensive paper. Has anyone else tried going ultra budget on their journal and stuck with it?

My last composition notebook was $1.49 at Walmart during back to school sales and it's honestly been my favorite one yet. I think we get so caught up in the "right" tools for things when the basics usually get the job done just as well.

I mean, I totally get that. My favorite notebook right now is this beat up spiral one I picked up at a dollar store like three years ago. The cover is all bent and there's a coffee ring on page 12, but the paper takes pen ink so well and it just feels right in my hand. I've tried those fancy $20 leather bound ones before and they just sit on my shelf looking pretty while the cheap one is the one I actually write in every day.
