I finally gave in and tried that envelope budgeting system after 10 years of winging it
After I blew $600 on random Amazon stuff last quarter I figured heck why not and honestly the cash envelopes forced me to actually feel the money leaving my hands which is what finally made it click for me, anyone else have a method they swore they'd never try but now rely on?

Cash envelopes would just make me lose cash lol. App tracking is way cleaner.

I actually have to push back on this hard. I tried the envelope system back in 2018 after seeing all those YouTube videos about cash stuffing, and it was a complete disaster for me. I ended up losing like 40 bucks somewhere between the grocery store and my car, and that was just the start. The feeling of cash leaving my hands just made me anxious and paranoid, not more careful. I actually ended up spending more because I'd hide cash in random places and forget about it, then find it later and treat it like "free money." I know it works for some people, but for me, going back to credit cards and tracking everything automatically in an app was way less stressful. Have you ever tried the opposite approach where you just automate everything and don't touch cash at all?
