Hostel dorms used to be my go-to, now I'm team private room with a shared kitchen

I saved like $18 a night in Lisbon booking a dorm bed last year, but I woke up at 5am to a dude blow-drying his hair, now I'll pay the extra $12 for a private room in a hostel with a kitchen and cook my own meals, am I crazy or does the sleep and fridge space beat the savings?

Used to be the biggest dorm defender, always bragged about saving cash for more beers. Then one night in Prague some guy snored like a chainsaw and another one packed his bag at 3am for a flight, turned every light on. Woke up the next day feeling like a zombie and realized I spent my "savings" on coffee just to function. Private room with a shared kitchen is the sweet spot now. Still get that hostel vibe and meet people when I cook, but I can actually sleep and keep my yogurt from disappearing. No way I'm going back to dorms unless it's a last resort.
