Bought a $14 hostel bunk in Lisbon instead of a $95 hotel room and honestly the sleep was the same
I did a 5 night trip to Lisbon last month and decided to test this on purpose. First 2 nights I stayed in a private hotel room near Baixa for about $95 a night, then moved to a hostel dorm in Alfama for $14 a night. The hostel had blackout curtains, a fan right by my bunk, and earplugs at the front desk for free. I slept just as well there as I did in the hotel, maybe better since the dorm was quieter than the street outside the hotel. The real win was the extra $160 I saved, which paid for a day trip to Sintra and about 6 pastel de nata stops. Anyone else find that the cheap bunk beats the fancy room more often than not, or did I just get lucky with quiet roommates?
