Used to buy pre-minced garlic in jars for everything

Switched to fresh cloves about six months back after a friend pointed out the jar stuff adds like 50 cents to each meal for way less flavor. A head of garlic costs under a buck here in Austin and lasts me two weeks easy. Anybody else make the swap and notice a difference in their cooking?

Keep in mind a head of garlic is way more than two weeks if you store it right.

My friend said the same thing about storing it right. I just toss mine in the fridge drawer. Sometimes I forget I even bought it. Then I find it a month later all shriveled and gross. So I just buy a new head every week now. Keeps me actually using it instead of wasting money.
