Question about switching from canned beans to dried beans

I used to just buy canned beans for everything. Black beans, chickpeas, kidney beans. Easy. But last month I did the math and realized I was spending like $40 a month on canned beans for my family of four. So I bought a 5 pound bag of dried black beans for $6. Now I soak them overnight and cook them in the Instant Pot. They taste fine but it takes planning ahead. I keep forgetting to soak them and then I'm stuck with nothing. My sister swears the dried beans are way better for you and cheaper, but my wife says the convenience of cans is worth the extra money. Who is right here? Is the savings actually worth the hassle or am I just being cheap for no reason?

Soak a couple bags at once, then freeze them in portions.

Oh man I was totally the same way, I thought canned beans were just the way to go until I actually started tracking my grocery spending and had that same wakeup call. Now I just keep a couple cans on hand for emergencies and do dried the rest of the time, the savings add up fast.
