Skeptical about that free compost at North Creek, now I'm hooked
I kept seeing people haul away bags of compost from the North Creek trailhead lot and figured it was probably just bark dust or something with weeds. Last month I finally grabbed a few bags for my raised beds by the house. Turns out it's actually screened and dark, no chunks of wood or trash in it. My tomatoes and peppers are looking better than they ever did with the bagged stuff from the store. I even went back twice more and got enough for my front flower beds too. The only catch is you need to bring your own shovel and containers, and it can get busy on weekends. Has anyone else tried that free pile and gotten good results, or did I just get lucky?
